Dinner at my house

Crazy. Impromptu. who knows?

Tonight, hubby was home, so I planned homemade lasagna with all the trimmings. Well, that was the plan anyway...

Hubby ended up sick today, and wasn't sure if he could eat anything. And, since the kids won't eat the lasagna (it has red sauce, and anything with red sauce is Spicy. no matter what Mom says) I decided to make meatloaf instead. If I make that in a cupcake pan, the kids will eat it. So...I go to turn the oven on...and the "bake" button will not work! All the buttons are dying: I haven't been able to cook anything under 300 because those number buttons don't work. Now it's the Bake. Good thing the owner of the house was already shopping for a new oven today...but it will be awhile. So, now what?

Fettucine Alfredo! The kids love my homemade sauce. So, I get a chicken breast out and defrost it. I get it cooking and go to make the sauce...no milk! So...now what?

Breakfast! I LOVE breakfast for dinner. It's something that I grew up with, and love it! Okay, I can do eggs, bacon, and pancakes, right? Right! Maybe... until the bowl of pancake mix I have (it doesn't require milk) starts moving... yep, I said moving! I look closer...weevils! Yeah, that went in the garbage.

So, last resort. I send my sick hubby out to get milk from the store, and bisquick. I make eggs and bacon; the pancakes get done when he got home. Finally! Dinner is made...or is it breakfast?

*sigh* Is it bedtime yet?

In the Groove

You know those days when everything seems to go wrong, and you are just exhausted at the end of the day? This happened to me last Monday. I was behind on my orders because my car broke down over the weekend, and we spent ALL DAY Monday in various cars doing errands, picking up the fixed car, etc. I didn’t get home with the kids until 5:30! I was exhausted!!
I fed my kids, and then crashed on the couch for about an hour. When I got up, an amazing, and perhaps miraculous, thing happened! I was IN THE GROOVE!
I went in the kitchen to start my orders, and it was amazing! By midnight, I had finished 7 orders and was completely caught up! Things just “worked”! My kids went to bed without argument,I turned on my favorite tunes, and started baking! My timing on everything was perfect, apples looked great…for how tired I was, it was a miracle!
I was up late labeling and starting to package, but I WAS DONE! 2 days of work in 5 hours! Yeah!

Question…can this please happen every night?

Chocolate Bark for the Soul!

Introducing our new line of Chocolate Barks! With so many to choose from, you'll have a hard time deciding!

What is Chocolate Bark? Well, I like to compare it to a candy bar. It is basically a layer of chocolate,(or 2 or 3) with mix-ins and toppings added. There are a multitude of flavor combinations!

I made some traditional barks, such as Peppermint and Eggnog, and then whipped up some new concoctions! Above is my Nutty Chocolate Bark that comes in any variety of nuts and chocolate you can think of! Or, try my favorite, Creamy Peanut Butter Bark below!

I also offer fruity barks in flavors like Pina Colada, Caramel Apple, and Dark Chocolate and Cherry!

More of a sweets person? (well obviously if you are reading this!) Try our Toffee Bark, or Crunchy Mint Bark!

I have over 20 Bark flavors listed in my Etsy Shop! Just can't decide? Pick up a Bark Sampler pack! The pack weighs 2-3 pounds, and offers you 4 different flavor choices!

Grab your bark today for the holidays! I am offering a 10% discount on pre-orders, up to 2 weeks before Christmas! Check out my Black Friday sale from Nov. 28th, to December 1st, for more great deals!

Have a "sweet" day!

I WAS ON THE FRONT PAGE!!!

Etsy's front page features a curated treasury, or showcase, of other sellers items. It is a BIG deal to be on the front page! This is only my second time being on the first page, and I missed this one! Thankfully there is a wonderful group of Etsians who screenshot every front page (it changes many times a day) and post it to flickr. Here is my "moment of fame"!

Here is a screenshot of the very first time I was on the front page!

Vacation

I wanted to announce that I will be on "business vacation" from November 1-8. I have decided that I need a break to de-stress and catch up on all the other aspects of my life! I will be getting my house in order, spending some quality time with the kids, just not even thinking about my business! It will be sooooo nice!

I'm leaving my etsy shop open for Holiday Pre-orders. I will be responding to convoes and emails. I will probably still be in the forums and chat rooms during my regular job - what else is there to do? But no selling and no stress! Yeah!

Thanks to all my customers who have made my Etsy experience so wonderful! Miss me!

Ooohhh... I'm in heaven...

As you know, I started a Food team on Etsy. Etsy teams are based on either location or interest. Etsy's Edible Arts Team is obviously based on interest!

The best part of the team is the trading we do with each other! Yeah for goodies! I traded recently with TheFetchingHound

She specializes in "Bitty Bites", little bites of cake mixed with frosting and dipped in chocolate. Now, I'm normally not a huge cake fan...but I am now! Just look at what I got!

Strawberry Cheesecake Swirl/ Itty Bitty Bites

These are truly little bites of heaven.
Not only am I not a cake fan...strawberry cake is not high on the list. But cheesecake? Yes! So I jumped and chose these. They are HEAVEN!! NIRVANA!! Absolutely WONDERFUL! So moist, they just melt in your mouth.

The other Bitty Bites I received were the Coconut Dream/Itty Bitty Bites

If you know me, you know I adore Coconut. Now, I WORSHIP coconut! These bites are perfection. Moist, coconutty - they taste like an exalted form of Almond Joy Candy bars.

Last night we ate our last bitty bite...moment of silence please...

You know what the best part of this whole experience was though? Working with the master chef herself! Christina is so nice and has an amazing sense of humor. I am so glad I have gotten to know her!

So, thanks to you, Christina, for making my mouth very, very happy!

Nice post!

Check out this wonderful post that a fellow EEAT team member wrote about me!

Well I have be partaking in my teams delicious items again.....hmmm I wonder if they are going to chip in for the weight loss plan I am going to have to get on...or maybe for my gym membership......

Well it has been a BUSY month for "partaking"..... my first indulgence was Double Dipped Sweets Sea Salted Caramel Apple.

This apple was delicious, it was the perfect balance of sweet, salty and tart. Her apples are HUGE...I think she may have some magic dust that she sprinkles on them to enlarge them...I know I have not seen apples that big here in AZ!! The apple was big enough for me to share (not willingly) with both of my kids. When you bite into the slice of apple you get the immediate crunch from the fresh crisp apple, then you taste the sweet Carmel and then your taste buds are assaulted by the salty goodness of the sea salt. The Carmel is also a perfect consistency, not to sticky....it won't glue your teeth together like some other apples!!

Well I also got some little presents in that package from DDS (as I call her in chat) she sent me a sample of her Ginger bread popcorn.

All I can say is that popcorn puts the kettle corn that you get at the fair to shame!! It was scrumptious!!! Crunchy and sweet and like taking a big bite of a gingerbread man!!

The other little gift I got was her Coconut Haystack Bark, omg it was soooooooooooooo good!! Just the right balance between chocolaty goodness and coconut. Your tongue is coated by the delicious chocolate and then there is a slight chewy crunch from the coconut.

Let's just say I had to fight off the kids from each one of my "gifts". Hmmm I think I should of locked myself in the bedroom, I will have to do that next time I buy from DDS!!

Give your family a treat from DDS you won't be disappointed!! I also suggest the following apples also......heheheh I told you it was a busy month of "partaking"!!!

Apple Pie Caramel Apple and Fall Delight Caramel Apple

Life

I feeling introspective today. Life, family, work, religion...keeps one's mind busy. My little online shop has grown into a online world. I've become quite the internet social expert. Mark laughs at how much I do and know that I didn't do and know in January!
I've created and run my own Etsy team- that includes a Ning site (social), a blog, and networking.
I'm on Facebook, and Photobucket.
I'm on numerous social sites like BuriedTreasury and IndiePublic.

I just opened a shop on a new selling site: Handmade FuZion
and soon will be selling on Lollishops

In the midst of all of this, I have to wonder if it is worth it. I have to balance my priorities and realize what is important. I've constricted my "social" and "work" time to when I'm at my real job in the mornings (don't tell my boss!) and after the kids are in bed. I make my orders when the kids go to bed, and get trips to the Post Office done as quickly and as painless as possible.

I've learned that my house CAN be a mess. My kids need me, and memories are formed when we play, read, or are just plain silly with each other. They are not going to remember the sink full of dishes. They will remember that fun day at the park though.

Mark and I don't see much of each other right now. But, we've learned to make those times meaningful through talking and sharing. It's important to keep in touch.

So, enough writing and off to LIFE! Now where was that primary manual...???

The Latest

Hi all! I wanted to give you an update on what's been happening lately!

We've moved into our new house: a duplex in the Sugarhouse area. It's tiny, but it is in a great neighborhood. We are slowly unpacking boxes! Where's Mom when I need her...*Sigh*

We signed my oldest up for kindergarten last week!!!!! He starts on Sep. 5th. We went and peeked into his classroom (it was locked) and that's when it happened. The tears. Yes, I started crying just looking at his classroom! My baby is going to school! He is so excited and very ready. It's just Mom that is not ready!

The other 2 munchkins are doing well. Growing up so fast!

Pictures will be posted soon of the house and kids! Promise!

Love to all family and friends!

We've moved!

Good Morning! I thought I better add another installment- it's been awhile!

We have finished our move! Yeah! We are now in the Sugarhouse area of SLC, and are really enjoying it. We are in a duplex, on a nice quiet street. There are a few kids on the block that are the same ages as mine.

Our ward is really great. It is very, very small. The primary has about 15 kids that show up, and so they were very excited to have our 3 come in! Tanner is really liking his class, and McKenzie is loving nursery. Then there is Michael. *sigh* He has never been a fan of nursery/primary. I had to stay with him the entire time the first week, which was fine. The second week, Mark walked by 1/2way through and heard him crying, so went in with him. Hopefully someday he'll be happy! We don't have calling yet, but expect them soon, and this ward needs help!

Our jobs are going well. DDSweets is doing well too. I have added 11 new creations to my etsy shop. In doing this, I have discovered my two absolutely favorite Caramel Apple flavors: "Nutella wanna-be Hazelnut Caramel Apple" and my "Peanut Butter Caramel Apple" in which I use the PB topping from my PB popcorn. It is divine. It tastes a lot like a Snickers bar, only with more PB taste. YUM!

Tanner starts Kindergarten soon, and we're hoping to get Michael into a Preschool. Life continues to be crazy with 3 kids and multiple jobs!

We would love to hear from family and friends! Our phone numbers and emails are the same; if you would like our new address, let me know!

Have a great day!

We're moving!!

Good Morning! I wanted to announce to the great big Web World that we are moving! Yeah! We've been living in the In-laws basement, and now are moving about 20min. south into a Duplex that we will manage for Mark's parents. It is in a very nice neighborhood, with good schools. This move will happen this weekend! Yeah!

Etsy news: My store is temporarily "closed" while we are moving. I hope to re-open on Monday, June 16th. NEW FLAVORS of Popcorn and Apples are coming soon!!

Weekend News: My Aunt D is moving this week to London to spend 6 months there teaching. What fun! So, this past Saturday she had a goodbye party. My Grandparents were there, and it was good to see them. We had the party at a park in Provo. Tanner discovered a water fountain outside our Pavillion that didn't have a basin. The water just went down to the ground which was mud and tiny pebbles. By the time we left, there was a lake and lots and lots of mud. Tanner and McKenzie were covered in mud and shivering because they were wet and cold! Tanner was actually sitting in his "lake" shivering, but refused to get out! So, we went to Aunt A's house and cleaned them up. They had to wear their cousins shirt until their clothes were clean. McKenzie loved this, and was dancing around the house in her big shirt. Tanner thought it was "stupid". But, we tied the bottom of his shirt so it was like wearing shorts, and then he didn't mind!

Sunday my brothers came to visit! They were in town visiting an Uncle who took them camping. We only got to see them for a few hours, but it was a lot of fun. They are so grown up. I still think of them as little boys, but they are men now. Where does the time go?

So, it was a good weekend surrounded by friends and family. There is no better way to spend your time!

Have a great week!

What I did last weekend

I have crazy moments in my business, as I'm sure all of you do. Last weekend I dipped 101 Caramel Apples!!! They were for 2 local schools celebrating teacher apprecitation day. What a great gift- "Apples for the Teacher"!

Here are some pictures of my adventure! (Don't worry- the kids didn't touch!)

The apples arrived on time, and everyone enjoyed them! I'm doing 34 more apples this weekend! I'm basically buried up to my elbows in caramel and chocolate! But having a ball!
Have a great weekend everybody!
